Snow day!

I felt like I was in Junior High all over again last night, anticipating whether or not school would be called off.  As a stay-at-home-mom I definitely have mixed emotions on snow days.  On the one hand, there is the possibility of sleeping in, on the other hand, I go from a mostly quiet 2 year old to 4 hungry, bored, housebound children.   It's amazing how even with 2 televisions, 3 computers, 3 hand held video games, and a Wii, there is NOTHING to do!

So, in the end, our 4-6 inches turned into a measly 2ish inches.  Still enough to make our little country roads a mess.  Messy enough, in fact, to call school off tomorrow also.  I think we might just have to pay a visit to Grandma's house to break up the unplanned 4 day weekend.

I told Katelyn last night that if school was canceled, we could sew some today.  She has been eager to learn.  She decided a few weeks ago that she wanted to make an apron.  After choosing her fabrics I helped her get everything cut out.  I'm not really sure what I was thinking, but I guess this was not really what you would call a beginner project.  So, rather than guiding her, I ended up making it myself, while she kept me company.  Katelyn can be great company, and I love those times that we can just sit and talk.  She really is growing up.

Here is our final product...

Black with white polka dots and a cute pink pocket on this side...

And white with black polka dots on this side.  We tied it in front, because we can ;)  And this way you can see the ties.  She is pretty proud of it.  I have a feeling she will have it on daily, begging to help with dinner.

On a final note, I thought I would share how the girls and I occupied ourselves last night, while watching American Idol.  Definitely not my usual color, but its fun to just be crazy once in a while!
Please excuse my poor quality iPhone pictures... I promise by the next post I will have dusted off my sadly neglected 'real' camera.
